Special Meeting Minutes
Town Office Building April 26, 2011
Selectmen’s Conference Room 5:00 P.M.
First Selectman Mailhos called the meeting to order at 5:00 P.M. with the following in attendance: Selectman Millix & Blessington.
First Selectman Mailhos moved to issue a refund for excess Payment to Robert and Sandra Beering; 43 Nipmuck Road, Willington CT in the amount of $3,665.30.
Selectman Millix seconded the motion.
Selectman Blessington said he has reservations about this, as something just does not seem right. They need to make a payment or be foreclosed upon. First Selectman Mailhos clarified that the bank was paying the taxes through their escrow account without them knowing, and they were paying on their taxes separately. Selectman Millix stated that this was going to be on the regular agenda for Monday’s meeting, however we have a resident, who pays their taxes (in this case in excess) and they are in need of the funds – we are just making an accommodation for a resident. He doesn’t care the reasoning, and understands the circumstances; we should try to help them.
First Selectman Mailhos said we are often in a situation where there is nothing we can do to help people. In this case, we can, and feels that we are doing the right thing.
Vote: 3 Yes (Mailhos, Millix & Blessington) 0 No.
Selectman Blessington moved to adjourn at 5:08 P.M.
Selectman Millix seconded the motion.
Vote: 3 Yes (Mailhos, Millix & Blessington) 0 No.
